4.

I tried to pray tonight.
I folded my hands and bowed my head.
I thought, god? And that was it.
It was like that moment on the bus when the lights go out for half a second and you’re not quite sure what’s coming next
But then the lights, they’re back on..
(And nothing has changed)
The rising sun approaches recklessly; without doubt and without fear.
(No one prays for the sun to rise)
the stars caught in telephone wires cursed me through their freezing teeth
and I surrendered to a dreamless sleep.
