Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

Well.
I did buy a bike lock.
and I did manage to attach it to my bike.
but when I was about six blocks away from my house, it fell off.
and I almost killed myself recovering it.

Now that I've got that off my chest, here's the real subject(ish thing) of this blog:
Trains. trains and buses and buses and trains.
I spend a pretty good part of my life in San Francisco waiting for, waiting on, standing in, fighting for seating on, silently making fun of people on, speaking Spanish at, and singing songs about trains and buses.
But it wasn't until the other day that I realized something kind of almost profound about a train and/or bus.

Being on a crowded train is one of the most intimate things I've ever experienced.
You're standing up, touching at least four different people, and swaying and moving as one in time with the terrible braking skills of the driver.
It's really a very spiritual thing.
I used to feel like being on the train was like being confronted by my worst fears in the form of many different, stinking, crazy people.
But lately I've just felt very connected to everyone I happen to smell or touch.

Sorry for sounding like a dirty hippie, but it's the truth.

In other news, I get my very own internet tomorrow!
You cannot imagine how excited I am!
Although, I'll probably be in Java Beach just as often.
it's just so nice here, with the slightly chalky mochas, the wonderful sandwiches, and the pacific ocean right in front of me.

Also.
I papered the streets with copies of my resume.
So hopefully someone in one of the millions of places I applied to will give me a job.
I'd like that very much.

Marie is leaving me tomorrow.
She's going home for a cruise with her family.
for a week.
So if you're in the Bay Area and you happen to read this, please give me a reason to leave the house.
Because I'll never get out once I have my own internet, a few new dvds, and the number of a very curious Indian & Italian restaurant.

wish me luck.
